Why KLD Wealth

Advice that connects your money to your life.

Taxes, investments, retirement, family decisions, and the values behind them all affect one another. We help you see the full picture, make the next decision, and keep the plan useful as life changes.

Fee-only. Fiduciary. Based in Lebanon, Ohio. Serving clients in person and virtually.
Our approach in practice

What makes working with KLD different?

These are the choices that shape how we work with you. They are useful questions to ask any financial advisor.

We are fee-only

Our compensation comes from agreed client fees, not commissions for selling financial products.

We connect the decisions

Retirement, taxes, investments, cash flow, protection, and estate priorities belong in one conversation.

We work through the year

Seasonal reviews create space for the right decisions at the right time, with a plan that can change with you.

We explain the tradeoffs

We tell you why a recommendation fits, what it costs, and what you give up by choosing it.

We make room for your values

Family, faith, giving, sustainability, and legacy can inform decisions when they matter to you.

We define the work clearly

Planning, investment management, and limited-scope help have distinct services and fees, agreed in writing.

You should be able to explain what your advisor does, what you pay, and what happens between meetings.
The whole picture

What does coordinated advice look like?

Good planning starts with the decision in front of you, then follows its effect across your financial life. Open a question to see how we would frame the work.

Could we retire before 65?

We would look at spending, income sources, healthcare, taxes, investments, and what changes if the timeline shifts. Then we would help you compare the choices.

Should we buy another rental property?

We would connect projected cash flow, financing, reserves, taxes, insurance, concentration risk, and your long-term plan before deciding what the property needs to accomplish.

What should we do with company stock?

We would consider vesting, tax rules, concentration, liquidity needs, and diversification alongside the other goals the stock may support.

The people behind the advice

A planning relationship with real people.

David Wiedmeyer, CFP®, founded KLD Wealth in Lebanon, Ohio. He earned a master's degree in Personal Financial Planning from Kansas State University and a bachelor's degree in Finance from Miami University.

Today, we work as a KLD team. We identify who leads your engagement, explain each person's responsibilities, and coordinate with your tax and legal professionals when the plan calls for it.

Our roots are in Southwest Ohio. We meet clients in person or virtually, depending on their location and preference.

How we are paid

What will working with KLD cost?

We show fees before you decide. The right service depends on the work you need and whether you want KLD to manage investments.

Investment management

Managed portfolios

Progressive asset-based tiers

Investment fees are separate. At $500,000 or more managed on KLD's platform, there is no separate ongoing planning fee.

Focused help

Hourly planning

$194.90/hour

For a defined, limited-scope question outside an ongoing engagement. We agree on the work in writing.

Tax return preparation is included with an ongoing planning subscription or at $500,000 or more managed on KLD's platform. Eligibility and scope are confirmed in the written agreement. Investment and third-party costs may also apply.

Fit matters

Who tends to get the most from KLD?

We primarily serve Gen X and Millennial individuals and couples who want help coordinating decisions across a busy financial life.

We may be a strong fit when you...

  • Are building wealth while balancing family, career, and life now.
  • Are preparing for retirement and want to understand income and taxes.
  • Own a business, receive equity compensation, or invest in rental property.
  • Want guidance that includes your goals and personal values.

Another approach may fit when you...

  • Want only short-term market calls or a stock picker.
  • Prefer to manage everything yourself and have no planning questions right now.
  • Need only one narrow answer; hourly planning may be enough.

The initial interview is a chance for both sides to assess the fit.

KLD Cares

What do our values look like beyond a portfolio?

Our KLD Cares pledge commits 10% of annual profits to three organizations: World Central Kitchen, Equal Justice Initiative, and Dayton Children's Hospital.

When a referral becomes a client, we also donate $100 to one of these charity partners. Giving is a firm commitment, separate from any investment recommendation.

Straight answers

Questions to ask before hiring KLD

Do we have to move our investments to KLD?

No. You can engage us for ongoing planning without investment management. We define the planning scope and fees separately.

How often will we hear from you?

Ongoing planning follows a seasonal review rhythm, with topics such as taxes, goals, protection, and year-end decisions. The meeting schedule and other support are set in your agreement.

Do you prepare tax returns?

Tax return preparation is included for clients with an ongoing planning subscription or at least $500,000 managed on KLD's investment platform. We confirm eligibility and scope in writing.

Can we keep our CPA and attorney?

Yes. We can coordinate planning recommendations with them when appropriate. Legal documents and legal advice remain with your attorney.

What if our values affect investment choices?

We discuss what matters to you and explain available options, costs, diversification, and other tradeoffs. A values preference does not guarantee a particular return.

What happens in the first meeting?

We discuss what is on your mind, how KLD works, and whether it makes sense to continue. You can bring questions about the process, fees, and who would work with you.

Your next step

See whether KLD feels right for you.

Tell us what you are trying to solve. We will explain how we work and help you decide whether an ongoing relationship or focused help makes sense.
