Investment management built around your life.
Your portfolio has a job to do. We connect what you own with when you need the money, how much risk you can take, the taxes you may face, and the values that matter to you.
Fiduciary. Commission-free. Based in Lebanon, Ohio. Meet in person or virtually. How do we decide what belongs in your portfolio?
We start with the plan and the role each account plays. Then we build an investment approach you can understand and revisit as life changes.
Start with your goals
Retirement income, family goals, future purchases, and reserves each have different timelines and needs.
Set the right risk level
We consider your comfort with market swings and your financial ability to withstand them.
Diversify with purpose
We choose an allocation and investment vehicles based on the portfolio's role, costs, and tradeoffs.
Consider taxes
Account location, gains, losses, and withdrawal timing can affect what you keep after tax.
Respect your values
If faith, sustainability, or another preference matters to you, we discuss available choices and their tradeoffs.
Monitor and adjust
We review the allocation and make changes when your plan, risk, or portfolio calls for them.
What does a portfolio built for your life look like?
The answer changes with your situation. Open a question to see what we would examine before making a recommendation.
We're nearing retirement. Should we invest differently?
We would look at income needs, cash reserves, account types, withdrawal timing, taxes, and how much market risk your plan can bear. The allocation should support the transition from saving to spending.
We have a lot of company stock. What should we do?
We would consider concentration risk, vesting and sale rules, tax lots, other investments, and your need for liquidity. A transition plan may spread decisions over time.
Most of our wealth is in rental property. Does that affect our portfolio?
Yes. Rental income, debt, property reserves, liquidity, and real estate concentration can change the role your market investments need to play.
What happens when KLD manages your investments?
We make the work visible, from the first review of your existing holdings to ongoing decisions.
Understand the purpose
We map goals, time horizons, cash needs, values, and risk.
Review what you own
We examine your current allocation, costs, account types, and tax considerations.
Design the transition
We explain the recommended portfolio and how existing holdings may change.
Manage the portfolio
We monitor, rebalance, and consider tax-aware actions when appropriate.
Review with you
We connect portfolio decisions back to your plan as your life evolves.
The specific investments, account services, and review cadence depend on your written engagement.
How do taxes affect investment choices?
A portfolio return is only part of the picture. We look at how and where investments are held, as well as the tax consequences of changing them.
Where assets sit
Account type can influence which assets make sense in taxable and tax-advantaged accounts.
How holdings change
We review cost basis and potential gains before selling appreciated investments or moving into a new strategy.
When losses or income matter
Tax-loss harvesting and withdrawal sequencing may be useful in some circumstances. We evaluate them in the context of the full plan.
What does investment management cost?
Our investment fee uses progressive tiers. Each rate applies only to the portion of assets in that tier. Your agreement confirms the exact fee.
| Managed assets in this tier | Annual rate |
|---|---|
| First $250,000 | 1.25% |
| Next $250,000 | 1.00% |
| Next $500,000 | 0.85% |
| Next $4 million | 0.70% |
| Amounts above $5 million | 0.60% |
No separate ongoing planning fee is charged. Tax return preparation is included, with eligibility and scope confirmed in the written agreement.
Ongoing financial planning is available separately. You do not have to move investments to KLD to engage us for planning.
Investment estimates exclude fund expenses, trading costs, custodial charges, and other third-party fees that may apply. The example is illustrative, not an individualized quote.
Do you need investment management or planning alone?
You can choose the work that fits your situation. We will discuss what we would manage, what stays elsewhere, and how those decisions connect.

Questions we hear about investing with KLD
What happens when markets fall?
We revisit the role of your portfolio, cash needs, risk level, and allocation. Rebalancing or other changes may make sense, but no strategy can prevent market losses.
Do you try to beat the market?
We choose strategies for the role they play in your plan, including their risk, costs, taxes, and tradeoffs. We do not promise to predict short-term market moves or outperform an index.
Will we have to sell everything we already own?
No automatic reset is required. We review current holdings, account types, cost basis, and possible tax consequences before recommending a transition.
Can we keep some assets or our workplace plan elsewhere?
Yes. We define which eligible assets KLD will manage and bill on. Other accounts, including an employer plan, can still inform financial planning, with the scope agreed separately.
Can our investments reflect our faith or other values?
We can discuss available values-based options and how they affect diversification, costs, taxes, and the opportunity set. Returns and outcomes cannot be guaranteed.
Do you do tax-loss harvesting?
We consider it when appropriate for the account and your tax situation. It is not automatic or useful in every year, and a realized loss is still an investment loss.
Are there costs beyond KLD's management fee?
There may be fund expenses, trading costs, custodial charges, or other third-party fees. We discuss the relevant expenses as part of the recommendation and written agreement.
Is there an investment minimum?
Our current pricing page lists no investment minimum. We still discuss the service and fees to see whether management is a practical fit for your situation.
What happens in the initial interview?
We talk about your goals, current investments, and questions. We explain how KLD works and decide together whether to continue through discovery and a strategy session.
Let's give your investments a clear job.
Bring your questions and what you own today. We will talk through your goals, how our team works, and whether investment management makes sense.
